What Are Non-Woven Airfile Belts?
Non-woven file belts (also referred to as surface conditioning file belts) are belts uniquely designed for deburring, cleaning, blending, and finishing metal surfaces. Standard coated abrasive belts feature belt backings coated with abrasive grains. Unlike coated belts, non-woven belts are manufactured with nylon mesh fibers that contain bonded abrasive grains scattered throughout the mesh.
The nylon fiber mesh provides a more pliable surface, which creates more flexibility than coated abrasive belts. The unique design of non-woven belts provides improved performance for sanding uneven surfaces.

The Grit Equivalents Of Our Surface Conditioning File Belts
You’ll notice that our non-woven file sanding belts aren’t categorized by grit. There is no grit categorization for non-woven belts because non-woven belts aren’t coated with abrasive grains like regular sanding belts. Despite not having a grit rating, you can still expect the different categories of non-woven file belts to perform similarly to certain grit ranges. Below are the grit equivalents of our non-woven surface conditioning file belt offerings:
Coarse belts: Our coarse non-woven belts are equivalent to P120-P150 grit
Medium belts: Our medium non-woven belts are equivalent to P150-P180 grit
Fine belts: Our fine non-woven belts are equivalent to P240-P280 grit
