Red Label Abrasives manufactures industrial grade hook and loop sanding discs and offers them factory direct, so that you can buy your sanding discs at the best possible price. Red Label sells a variety of different hook and loop sanding discs for various applications. We have sanding discs for auto body repair, woodworking, metalworking, bowling ball resurfacing, and more. Our sanding discs are available in 5” and 6” diameters.
Hook and loop sandpaper is essentially velcro sandpaper (you’re likely more familiar with the term velcro). Velcro is a brand of hook and loop system that was branded so well it became a proprietary eponym. The backing for hook and loop sandpaper contains loops. Hook and loop disc sanders have backing pads with hooks. When the sanding disc is applied to the backing pad of the disc sander, the hooks grab the loops and stay locked in until they are forced apart.
Our hook and loop sanding discs are built with a hook and loop backing, so that you can easily switch out your sanding discs on your disc sander. It’s important to note that these discs will only work if you have a disc sander with a hook and loop backing pad. If you don’t have a hook and loop backing pad, you can buy a converter pad, so that your sander can support hook and loop discs.
There are two main types of sanding discs: hook and loop discs, and pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) discs. Red Label Abrasives sells both types of discs. The discs you’ll need will ultimately depend on the type of discs your sander supports.
Generally speaking, adhesive discs tend to be less expensive to manufacture without the hook and loop backing. The drawback to adhesive discs is that once the discs are removed from the sander, the adhesive on the back doesn’t tend to stick as well. This makes it hard to swap discs back and forth when changing grits. If you’re working on an application that doesn’t require changing grits often, then adhesive discs can be a great option. If you frequently change grits, you’ll likely benefit from using hook and loop sanding discs.
Our hook and loop sanding discs are available in different grains and coating types. If you’re looking for hook and loop sanding discs for wood sanding, you’ll want to use our gold sanding discs. These discs are built using an aluminum oxide abrasive grain and are designed for general woodworking.
Red Label Abrasives also manufactures hook and loop sanding discs for metalworking. Our blue, orange, and ABRASILK sanding discs all work well for metal sanding.
