4x24” Industrial Grade Silicon Carbide Sanding Belts
Our industrial grade silicon carbide belts are the perfect choice for fine finishing with lighter pressure. Silicon carbide is extremely sharp and friable, making it ideal for heat sensitive applications. If you need a consistent cut every time, S/C is a great choice. A 400 grit belt will cut at 400 grit until the abrasive is completely used up, unlike other abrasives, which cut finer and finer as they wear down. The trade off for consistency is longevity, as it does not last as long as other abrasive materials. Its unique characteristics make silicon carbide a great choice for paint removal, sanding between coats, knife scale finishing, lapidary, or any application requiring consistent scratch patterns. These belts can be used for wet or dry applications. All of our belts are hand built in the USA.

Certain grains like aluminum oxide can be used for a number of general sanding applications. Silicon carbide isn’t as much of a general use abrasive grain. Silicon carbide is a specialty grain that works well for very specific applications. It is commonly used to prep auto bodies for paint. Silicon carbide is also a popular choice for sanding glass, garnet, marble, and concrete.
Silicon carbide is often selected for finishing work, because the grain delivers even and consistent cuts. Silicon carbide is harder and sharper than aluminum oxide. It’s not the strongest abrasive material, but its moderate strength and durability make it an attractive option for various applications.
