Our industrial grade zirconia sanding belts are a great choice for heavy duty grinding applications. Zirconia’s self-sharpening abrasive grains extend belt life up to 2.5 times longer than aluminum oxide. Zirconia fractures during use, continuously revealing sharp abrasive grain. Its durability makes it a great choice for knife makers, blacksmiths, welders, or anyone working with metals. While it will not match the longevity of ceramic abrasives, zirconia is a cost-effective alternative. These belts can be used for both wet and dry applications. Our belts are hand built in the USA.

At one point in time, zirconia was the strongest abrasive grain in existence. Today, zirconia has been replaced by ceramic as the strongest grain type. However, zirconia remains a good middle of the road option. Zirconia strikes a perfect balance between performance and affordability. It will outlast closed coat aluminum oxide while also carrying a lower price point than ceramic.
Zirconia works well for sanding metals and hardwoods. It is commonly used for removing stock, profiling, performing bevel work, sharpening, smoothing out welds, cutting, and blending ferrous and non-ferrous metals (including steel, copper, titanium, aluminum, nickel, and alloys).
Our premium 6” x 89” zirconia sanding belts will work with any sander that utilizes 6” x 89” belts. These belts are commonly used on oscillating edge sanders. The most common edge sanding machines that use belts this size include:
